The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) invites you to participate in a site walk for the Kingman & Heritage Islands Trails and Amenities Design Project.
The day will begin with a guided walk through the project area, allowing participants to experience the islands' natural features firsthand while learning about existing conditions and opportunities. This charrette is part of the Pre-Design Phase of a two-year design period. Although this phase is primarily focused on sharing project background and existing community input, participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and help inform the next steps in the planning process.
Later in the afternoon, we will hold an in-person charrette on Education and Ecology. You do not need to attend both events, but you are welcome to. (See the separate Eventbrite page.)
Gathering Location
We will meet in the Kingman Island Meadow to start the tour at 10 AM. Find transportation options and directions to the Islands here. For those driving, please park at the RFK Lot 6 Island Entrance (575 Oklahoma Ave NE). Limited accessibility parking will be available at the Benning Rd Island Entrance (3101 Benning Rd NE). Pedestrians and cyclists can enter through either entrance gate to access the Meadow.
There will be portions of the site walk that can be self-guided, so if you can’t join right at the start, please still join us when you can.
