The DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) invites you to participate in a site walk for the Kingman & Heritage Islands Trails and Amenities Design Project.
Join DOEE and the design project team for a guided site walk and self-guided stations to better understand existing conditions on the Islands while learning about the project's goals and the community feedback that has informed planning to date. During the walk, the project team will highlight existing access routes, discuss safety considerations, and share how these observations are helping shape the next phase of the project.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions and share observations throughout the walk.
Gathering Location
We will meet in the Kingman Island Meadow to start the tour at 10 AM. Find transportation options and directions to the Islands here. For those driving, please park at the RFK Lot 6 Island Entrance (575 Oklahoma Ave NE). Limited accessibility parking will be available at the Benning Rd Island Entrance (3101 Benning Rd NE). Pedestrians and cyclists can enter through either entrance gate to access the Meadow.
There will be portions of the site walk that can be self-guided, so if you can’t join right at the start, please still join us when you can.
