Explore Kingman and Heritage Islands with DC Bird Alliance Junior Ambassador Mac, where kids lead the adventure.
Together, attendees will search for birds, listen for birdsong, and discover one of Washington's richest natural areas. Along the way, Mac will share some of his favorite birds, demonstrate how he uses binoculars, and encourage young participants to slow down, observe closely, and ask lots of questions.
This program is designed to show that you don't have to wait until you're an adult to become a conservationist, a bird enthusiast, or a leader. Sometimes the best guides are the ones who remind us to see the world with fresh eyes.
Adults are welcome and encouraged to attend, but this walk is all about creating space for young people to explore, learn, and inspire one another outdoors. Whether your child has never picked up a pair of binoculars or already knows a Carolina Chickadee by sound, everyone is welcome.
Binoculars are encouraged. A limited number will be available to share.
